Station 46 - HQ

This Station was built in 1969 and opened for service in 1970.  The location on Sears Ave was the 5th location for the main headquarters since the department was organized in 1919. In 1983 a second floor was added, and a training building was constructed that is still in constant use.  A house next door was purchased and a small parking lot for 16 cars was constructed that same year. In 1999 the fire station got a complete facelift, and the entire exterior was bricked and the windows and doors were upgraded.  This station is currently the headquarters of the department and houses one fire company and ALS ambulance.

Station 47

The station was constructed in 1989 to help with emergency calls on the north side of the fire district. The railroad tracks that separate the Fire District had become very busy when CSX Railroad added more trains. The station was fully staffed with 24/7 personnel in 2000 after years of being manned by volunteers.  A remodel in 2016 of the original building and an addition along the Brownsboro side for additional space was completed.  The station is now staffed by two full-time fire companies and an ALS ambulance.

Station 48

Originally part of the Lyndon Volunteer Fire Department and then Lyndon Fire Protection District, this station was first built by the firefighters and local citizens in 1952 at the location it is today with the Fire Chief’s house being right behind it. Through the years a series of additions and remodels took place to accommodate the ever-growing department. In 1986 plans were developed to completely replace the firehouse. This complete renovation was completed in 1988 with a grand opening and dedication ceremony. Today, the station remains as it was in 1988 and is dedicated to Fire Chief W. William “Buzz” Pierce. Originally, the station was designed to be an Emergency Operations Center, complete with a helipad on the roof, a full-service dispatch console and a fallout shelter in the basement. Since construction these extra accommodations have been discontinued.

Station 49

Originally part of the Lyndon Volunteer Fire Department and then Lyndon Fire Protection District, this station was built on property owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and leased to the Fire Department. In December 1964, the Department erected a small Armco steel building which housed two apparatus, greatly improving the department’s ability to expand coverage on the North side of the Fire District. In 1983 the department built the firehouse as it stands today, adding three bays, living quarters and an office. The original Armco steel building was sold to Eastwood Fire Protection District and became their station #2.
